Boat
Lift Functions
The most popular types of boat lifts in the northern
part of the United States are the vertical and cantilevered boat lifts,
or standing lifts as they are also known. The manner in which boat lifts
operate is to raise the boat out of the water with the use of a
winch/cable or hydraulic system. These types of boat lifts are strong
and durable and can easily lift the boats out of the water to be stored
during the winter months. Boat lifts of this type can be used for other
personal watercraft and pontoon boats.
Other than the standing lifts are the floating lifts and the drive-on
lift. The manner in which the floating lift operates is to use tanks
that operate up and down, depending on the quantity of air in the tanks.
Tanks are durable and flexible because they can ride the water whether
it is rough or calm. The tanks are particularly conducive for lakes
which rise and fall or have soft bottoms.
The drives on powered water crafts are simple to use. The only function
the boater needs to perform is to turn the power on and tie the boat up
for the night or an extended period of time.
In order to select the boat lift that meets the needs of you and your
boat, make sure you are aware of the mechanics and operation of your
boat. Also talk to the manufacturer or a knowledgeable boat salesperson
in order to obtain recommendations for the boat lift that will be best
suited for your boat.
